NanoSPoD
There are a variety of plant pathogenes which infect crop and onamental plants. The annual economic losses by these pathogens were estimated in billions worldwide. For this reason, the aim of NANOSPoD project is the development of innovative, fast and robust diagnostic methods, which could represent a crucial cornerstone of plant protection and for the detection for the future.
Like our MykoNANO project, magnetic nanoprobes specifically functionalized with antibodies are also added to the sample for NANOSPoD. These magnetic markers bind to the virus dna or rna and can be detected with a portable magnetic reader based on magnetic frequency mixing. The measurement results are displayed and documented by means of a smartphone app.
